Welcome to our website
and meet my two shaggy friends, Kadmos and Aramis, the Bouvier
des Flandres dogs!
While most of
information on this website is –as usually for serious dog
fanciers- about how wonderful my dogs are, how amazing are their
pedigrees and puppies they have sired but I also wanted to tell
you how it is to live with a Bouvier (..or two) being just pets
at home, how much joy they give us and how they care in their
doggy way about their people.
Kadmos came to live with
us from Controversia Kennels owned by Ms Dorota Paz and his most
striking characteristic we’ve noticed was an incredible
composure – he is always in control of himself and doesn’t get
excited easily. I believe that it would be very hard to make him
angry and even if someone would be foolish enough to try that,
Kadmos still would most likely have walked away in disgust like
a true gentleman he certainly is would.. However it would be a
different story in case of protecting his people – Bouviers are
known for their determination and I feel sorry already for those
who ever put themselves in path of their fury. After all,
daytime they were used as any regular shepherd dog to control
stock but at night their duty was to be a guard and watchdog as
their keen senses made them perfect for the job.
That was him, Kadmos,
with his charming disposition and great intelligence who
made mi love this breed so much. He is not only a quality show
dog and a valuable stud but most of all a wonderful companion,
member of our family and thanks to his sensitive and gentle
nature, a volunteer therapy dog for my disabled sister. This
extraordinary dog seems to completely understand her limitations
and his affection, patience and unique bond they both share make
great impact on my sister’s well-being – I don’t need to mention
how grateful to him we all are for making her days a lot happier
and brighter without even being expected or trained in this
role. As it seems, compassion and care are not only human
qualities and no wonder that it was easy to fall in love with
such a special dog in general and Bouvier in particular!
After a while I came to
conclusion that if one Bouvier is great, only better thing would
be two of them – and so came Aramis from
Ukrainian kennel Grey Tetis. Galina Kalinichenko, the breeder,
picked a magnificent specimen both as a show and a family dog
and he proved it from the very first day by becoming a part of
our household right away. But Aramis never had any problems
making friends with either animals or people – now best buddy
with Kadmos, they go together for daily romps in the country to
meet and play with their many four- and two-legged friends.
Aramis is a bit different in looks and disposition than Kadmos
but just as gorgeous and lovable
– somewhat bolder, more dynamic and spontaneous, he can
be at times a little stubborn and independent but nonetheless
very responsive and obedient and always ready to work.
Both dogs dote on all
family members including our cats – resident
ones and live-out ferals coming just to get their fill from
special food bowl we set up for them.
As Kadmos and Aramis
developed into spectacular show dogs with excellent pedigrees it
became important they pass their outstanding qualities onto next
generation – and in due time, our blended human-Bouvier family
started to grow. When I say “family” this is because we see
their offspring and its owners as our adopted family members. We
not only try to select most appropriate combinations of breeding
lines our dogs can improve further but provide ongoing education
to prospect and existing owners of our puppies. We determine
which puppy would be best match for which home according to
expectations, needs and individual personality
traits both people and pups. After placing our puppy we are
always available to help with our experience in raising a happy
and healthy Bouvier in all aspects of it such as grooming,
feeding, training, health, etc. and as every family we get
together on family reunions where everyone can meet their match
in bragging about their super extraordinary Bouvier dogs.
I am very grateful that
I’ve had a good luck to experience and enjoy this incomparable
breed of dogs – their uniqueness in way they are among others
and love and service they offer – as well as for meeting
wonderful people through them. People who’ve came from all walks
of life: dedicated breeders, devoted dog fanciers, even
passersby enchanted by our Bouviers or public at dog shows
asking questions and cheering at our wins. Some became our
friends, others presented an important experience and insight
and all were received with sincere gratitude. This why we would
like now to take our turn in sharing our delight of owning a
Bouvier des Flandres dog with others – just like some time ago,
someone thoughtfully shared their joy with us…
